Social Prescribing

Botesdale Health Centre is delighted to announce that we have recently appointed our own in-house Social Prescribing Link Worker – Sophie Gower.

Sophie has a passion for supporting people’s health and wellbeing and has worked in various roles within Health and Social Care.

In her spare time Sophie enjoys spending time with family and walking her dog.

What is Social Prescribing?

Many things can affect your health and wellbeing.

Our GPs tell us that a lot of people visit them feeling isolated, lonely or anxious. They might be stressed out by work, money and housing problems and may need practical support. Sometimes it’s the stress of managing different long-term health conditions or needing lifestyle advice. That’s where Social Prescribing comes in.

It is a free service for anyone aged 18 years and over, registered at Botesdale Health Centre.

It starts with a conversation. Sophie is here to listen, to give people time to focus on ‘what matters to them’ and take a holistic approach to people’s health and wellbeing. From here she can work with you to connect you to voluntary sector activities, support groups and community resources to promote health, well-being and independence.

If you feel you could benefit from this service speak to a member of staff within Botesdale Health Centre.
